
Sam graduated from Atlantic Christian College and taught high school math for several years. He retired from BCBSNC, where he worked as a Professional Relations Liaison with physicians and hospitals. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, and worked several years in the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, serving as judge.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Greene Pridgen; two daughters, Lynne Pridgen Johnson (Roger), and Julia Pridgen Bullard, all of Mooresville; two step-daughters, Jill Purdy Sarkozi (Paul) of Larchmont, NY, and Kristi Purdy Riggs of Monroe; six grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Caroline, Samuel, William and Joseph Sarkozi, and Lauren Riggs; sister, Julia Pridgen Philyaw, and brother, Mark Davis Pridgen (Kay), all of Wilson. In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his sister, Lula Daniel Pridgen, and brother-in-law, Roger Philyaw.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Monroe on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC.
