Sara Cornelia Sullivan
September 20, 1920 – February 16, 2021
Sara Cornelia Sullivan, 100, of Charlotte, passed away on February 16, 2021.
Sara was born on September 20, 1920 in Mecklenburg County to the late Clyde and Mattie Sullivan. She was a lifelong resident of Charlotte and attended Oakhurst High School. Sara worked for Duke Power for 43 years as a bookkeeper. She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Robinson Presbyterian Church where she taught Kindergarten age Sunday School classes for decades. Sara served the church in numerous capacities, for which she was awarded the "Honorary Life Membership" by the church's "Women of the Church".
Sara cultivated an amazing vegetable garden, grew a variety of flowers and was gifted at arranging them. There was no needlework Sara could not do. Crocheting and Knitting were a favorite pastime of hers. Sara was a talented baker and enjoyed hosting her family on holidays. She provided selfless dedication to her loved ones.... never having to ask her for anything; she just knew what was needed. Sara was an avid sports fan, particularly Tar Heel Basketball and Carolina Panther Football. In her time, Johnny Carson was her late night vice; whom she adored.
Sara was predeceased by her sisters, Martha Faires (and husband, Bynum), Rebecca Randall (and husband, Leon), Hope Wallace (and husband, Lloyd); her nephew, Steve Faires and great nephew, Christopher Wallace.
She is survived by her nephews, Samuel Wallace, Jr., Frank Randall, Stan Faires and Tim Wallace; niece, Cornelia (Nelson) Goodman, great nieces & nephews, Jonathan (Christa) Faires, Adam (Lindsay) Faires, Ian Faires, Courtney Faires, Taylor Faires and Dana (Byron) Letchworth; niece in law, Suzon Faires; and great great nephews & niece, Brennan Faires, Hudson Faires, Sullivan Faires, Alexis Morgan and Jim Letchworth.
