Sue Lowery Armstrong

Born February 11, 1946, in Leeds, Alabama, Mrs. Armstrong was the daughter of the late George Henry Lowery and Dorothy Louise McCombs Lowery. She was a 1963 graduate of Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her interest included art books and reading. She was a huge country music fan. Mrs. Armstrong also enjoyed classic televisions shows like Married with Children, Golden Girls, Mommas Family, and Three’s Company, as well as old westerns and John Wayne movies. She loved her Shih Tzu dogs and treated them as her babies.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas Wayne Armstrong; sons, Billy Fields and wife, Cathy, of Southhaven, Mississippi, Vince Webster of Gastonia, North Carolina, Derek Armstrong and wife, Mellissa, of Birmingham, Alabama, and Brett Armstrong and wife, Angela, of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Rebekah Underwood and husband, Michael, Andrew Hamrick and wife, Shelby, Nicholas Fields, Christian Armstrong, Drew Armstrong, and Maci Armstrong; and great-granddaughter, Aria Underwood. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara K. Lowery.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Friday, January 26, 2018, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a graveside service to follow at 12:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road in Mint Hill.
