Wilbur Lee Allion, better known as Bud, of Mint Hill, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Bud was born 1931 in Fayette, Ohio. He grew up working on a farm as a kid, and decided he wanted to be an electrical engineer. Some of his appropriate other nicknames were "Flashlight Willy" and "Sparky". You could always, and still can :) find at least 10 flashlights somewhere in the near vicinity.

He lived an amazing life, travelling to six continents for business or sheer fun with the love of his life, Margie, accompanying him whenever possible. His passions were reading, photography, talking with his grandchildren, and a good cocktail (shaken, not stirred please!) His home was often filled with friends and adopted family members. You did not have to be born an Allion to be part of the family or loved. We will miss his generous heart and wicked sense of humor.

Special thanks go to all the medical staff that provided such compassionate care. Bud was fascinated by the advances in science and medicine and hoped that his treatments might make life better for someone in the future. In return, he offered laughs and welcome levity to his care providers because he knew how hard a job they all have. They are the true Angels especially in todays environment.

A memorial service for Bud will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.

Memories, laughter, and stories are welcomed!

We'll always be grateful to Bud for all the times he helped us out with electrical problems. He was our 'go-to guy" when we had a wiring problem and generously spent hours figuring out why breakers were throwing or lights were flickering. He was a master at all things electrical!

Since the 1970's we've cherished the friendship we had with Bud and Marge. Our children grew up together and we shared many happy events in both our families. To Erica, Mike, and all your family, we send our love, thoughts and prayers.

My sincere sympathy to the family. Bud (and Margie) truly exemplified the Kiwanis motto to ‘change the world one child at a time’. It was a pleasure getting to know and work with them through the Kiwanis Club of Mint Hill.

Daddy and Mommy were the most beautiful, loving persons I ever met in my life. It was such a blessing from God to have both of them in the toughest time of my life. They were the light that guided me in the right direction. They completely changed me from a poor refugee to become an independent woman. They also made my son became a good man. I love and miss them so much. I will never be able to thank them enough for what they did.

Thank you so much Daddy and Mommy.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Bud and his lovely wife, Margie, were members for years of Kiwanis Club of Mint Hill until Margie became ill.
They did Terrific Kids at the elementary schools and Bud made the pictures.
We thank them and have missed having them participating in the club activities for the children.
