William David Ford

David is survived by his wife, Charlis of 44 years; sons, Scot (Lorri) Ford, David (Jen) Ford, and Christopher Ford; sister, Dr. Annette Ford; and loving grand-daughters, Natalie, Camryn, Adalind, and Mackenzie Ford. David is and will always be a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and faithful friend to everyone.

David lived by the motto Semper Fidelis meaning Always Faithful and the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. While a member of the United States Marine Corps, David devoted his time giving back to those less fortunate. While doing several tours of service oversees, Lance Corporal Ford was given a Meritorious Mask for “on his own initiative” rebuilt and repainted orphanages in Livorno, Italy and Nice, France.

After serving 6 years and being honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, David worked in the HVAC industry. He was known for his relentless ability to “close the deal” by his colleagues and was honored multiple times as Salesman of the Year. During the earlier years of his civilian career, David met the men he referred to as his “Brothers in Faith”. Those men always held a very special place in his heart. David became a member of Carmel Baptist Church where he took part in many church activities, both inside and outside the church walls. David or as his brothers and friends called him “Sarge” would spend several weeks during the summer in other countries rebuilding churches and sharing the gospel with others.

Family was always David's first priority. His own hobbies always took a back seat to his sons’ adventures. Whether it was coaching tee-ball games, attending soccer and singing concerts, swim meets and football games, dirt bike races or academic award ceremonies, he made sure to always put his sons above all else. David made it known to everyone he met that his sons were his greatest achievement in life. Being a grandfather to four beautiful, smart, and talented grand-daughters was just a cherry on top. He often said his most cherished memories in life were with his sons and grand-daughters. During his limited amount of free time, he enjoyed traveling with his beautiful wife, playing golf, woodworking and fishing. He always said there was no fish in the world too big for him to catch.

At David’s request, a special thank you must be given to the angels working with Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte for their loving care and support during his final days.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, April 24th 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel located at 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may also be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region or to the Wounded Warrior Project in David’s Honor.
