The following obituary was written by Mr. Mermel himself-
my obituary.Dont morn my passing, since "sof kol adam movet the end of every human person is death.I tried to live an honest productive life, and reached a ripe age.Tried to experience all kind of things. Most of them I did.Traveled the world, was a 32nd degree Mason,aShreiner,a singer a teacher,a cantor a pattern maker a manufacturer and developer..The latter 2 I accomplished with my two brothers Kalvin and Steve. With me passing, the last of the beautiful Mermelstein family is gone.We were a family like no other, and were the envy of many, because we loved each other. We saved each others life during the Holocaust and helped each allways worried about our kids that they should have a better life.Steve all ways warried about his girls, and I allways warried about Steve when we were young kids.I dont expect any rewars, all the rewads shold be on this world. The only thing I take with me is my good name.I wilfully never hurt anone and if I did Please forgive me.My credo is be honest, charitable.dont hurt any body and it takes just as much efford to be good or nasty, then why not be good.I just hope that my children and gradchildren will limve the rightios way and set an example for the comming generation. My biggest plesure that I had were my children and grandchildren,I surely will miss them. But I also know that they will follow the example of the Mermelstein family. Not be extravagant, live frugally, remember the poor, and dont forget that I came to this country penniles so treat whatever I left carefully. My children and their spouses are the most wonderful human beings.
Arrangements are under the direction of Groman Eden Mortuary.
