Today, after saying a final goodbye to my dear friend Brandon, the reality of his passing has settled in all too hard. When I first learned of his untimely death, I went through the stages of grief—denial, anger, bargaining, the endless “if onlys.” Yet no matter how many times I replayed the past, nothing could prepare me for the moment of truly laying him to rest.

I will forever cherish the time we shared together. Some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones—cruising in his car, grabbing a meal, and finishing the day with a good movie. What I wouldn’t give for even half a day more of that easy laughter and friendship. His passing is a painful reminder to treasure every moment with the people we love.

In Jewish tradition, we say that each soul is a light, and though the body is gone, the light endures. Brandon’s light lives on in the joy he brought into our lives, and in the love that will continue to surround his memory. Rest easy, my brother—your light will never fade.

My heart is especially with his mother, Heather, whose grief is immeasurable. May she find comfort in knowing that Brandon touched so many lives with his spirit and kindness, and that his memory will always be for a blessing.

I remember Brandon as a young man who was vibrant and very intelligent. He used to come to our house to fix computer problems and share time together. My heart is with Heather at this time of sorrow. May Brandon rest in peace and give strength to Heather.

My Dearest Brandon and Heather,

I don't really know where to begin. My heart is breaking for you Heather; and not being able to put my arms around you, mourn with you, cry with you and most of all try to comfort you pains me.  
 Brandon, you came into my life 39 years ago when I met Mom through an acquaintance of ours, and you quickly became another member of my family. My friendship of love for Heather became my friendship of love for you.  We shared many memories and outings together before I moved out of Los Angeles; but each time we reunited, it was like no time had passed. One of my most enjoyable days was to see you Bar Mitzvah'd and celebrate you becoming the man you were to be! Your ambition, your kindness, your perseverance and your talent were what I saw and admired. I now also know from reading messages from some of your friends, you were so much more than that and I am so touched by what you meant to so many. That is truly the mark of an accomplished man. The incredible bond you had and will forever have with your devoted and loving mom will take you into the beautiful starry nights of eternity. I feel your presence as I write my "so long" to you. Your spirit will live on in all of our hearts and I know you will be standing watch over your Mom to help her get through this very difficult time. You will always be connected!

I know you would tell me that it's gonna be ok, and that you wouldn’t want us all to feel as lost as we do. But a world without you in it, feels wrong. I’ll never stop missing you, and your laugh. I loved cracking up with you. Thank you for all of those times, I will cherish them always. Thank you for loving me exactly as I am. Thank you for loving me without judgement, the same way I loved you. Thank you for always making me feel like things would be ok. You taught me to not be afraid, not to dwell in the past.  A future without you seems unreal. I wanted all the best things for you Brandon, Mike did too.  We loved you like a brother. I can only pray that where you are now is beyond anything we can imagine, and that you are at peace. I hope you know how much you were loved. I will think of our talks, all the laughs, all the love and kindness you showed me. Always❤️ I pray you know how much I loved you. I miss you more than I can explain.

I first met you 40 years ago with your mom  when you were 7 .  You were the light of her life in good times and challenging ones, you were each others support team.  You may have had your differences but you always worked through them!   Over the years, you grew into a wonderful, kind and caring person with many friends who will miss you.  Over the years, you became a friend of mine as well, you also became my IT guru!   You were my go to person anytime I had issues and were always available.   We had many talks on so many subjects,  I will miss our talks .   May you and your grandparents be your mom's guardian angels  and keep her safe surrounded by your love.  Just know in this life's journey , we have wonderful memories of you and we all love & miss you.

Brandon Dubin came into my life in 1994. Ever since then he has always been there for me. He gave me good advice about life, and we would always laugh at my many mistakes. He really helped me through the toughest times of my life! I remember that he never judged me for anything I ever did and had good intentions for everyone. He knows more about me and my life, about my children, Lilly of 8 and Maybellene of 5, and the truth of my journey than anyone else. I always thought he would be there when the time came that I lost my parents. He was the kind of Man that could help you through the darkest day. Like many of you, I am in disbelief about where we are today, missing him. I cannot find the words to truly express my gratitude for the time I had with him. The stories are countless, the memories are nostalgic, and now the emptiness and tears seem endless.
In the first century, "rabbi" was a term of respect for an authoritative teacher rather than an official ordained clergy member. I was born and raised Catholic, but studied world religions in college, and loved Judaism the most. When I spoke with Brandon, his words were filled with knowledge, truth and love. The lessons he taught me and the revelations he shared helped guide my life. I never told him, but I thought of him as my Rabbi.
His hopes, his dreams, and especially his heart were just too big for this world.

Brandon is a very special being, strong in spirit. A man of his convictions and beliefs with a big loving heart. Brandon and I shared a love of humanity, freedom and truth. We communicated often on a variety of topics and I respected his wisdom and intelligence. I will sorely miss his insights and ability to see beyond the curtain. He once sent me a quote that began “Since I didn’t come in a “box,” I always think without one.” His humor, his caring his warmth are all a testament to the man he was. 
Go in peace, Brandon, and keep up the good fight. Give us a sign every now and then. 💫

As Brandon's mother, my grief is so immense that my life is changed forever.  And CANNOT picture my life ever happy without him. 😭😭
He was such a concerned and passionate man about many things. Not all of his passions aligned with others, but his convictions were strong.  Underneath that barrier of strength was a very loving, caring, sweet & devoted son!  I KNEW how much he loved me. I only hope he realized the depths of my love for HIM!! 😭😭
I know how much he cared for his friends and was a very good friend. They are great people I'm fortunate to know.

My heart breaks with you in this time of sorrow. I know nothing can ease your pain, but I want you to know how much Brandon meant to our family. He was a dear friend to my son JT since he was  16, and even now at 42, their friendship has always been such a blessing. Brandon’s kindness and the joy in his voice could brighten any day, including mine. He meant so much to so many, and I am certain you will see just how many lives your sweet boy touched.

This loss is so difficult to comprehend, and my heart goes out to you. Please know I’m holding you close in my thoughts and am here for you in whatever way you need.
