Born July 19, 1924, in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Doris immigrated to the United States in 1936, lived in Springfield, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri, before settling in Woodland Hills, California. Doris earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois, Master of Arts from Washington University, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern California. She enjoyed working for both the St. Louis School District and The Los Angeles Unified School District as an Elementary School Teacher and Foreign Language High School Teacher. Doris was a life-long learner who enjoyed classical and opera music, studying languages, reading, playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Elsa Decker Leva and Dr. Julius Leva, her husband, Anthony Scott, and her daughter Joan Friedman Wurm. She is survived by her son, Julian Friedman, her grandson, Geoffrey Wurm Feldman, her sister, Sonja Leva Friedman, brother-in-law, Seymour Friedman, and their immediate families.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, at Groman Eden Mortuary, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345. Relatives and friends are welcome at the graveside service and reception following.
Doris was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
