Born on Nov. 5, 1905, Ida was the daughter of Jewish Romanian immigrants David and Molly Jacobs. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and later moved to Chicago with her husband Isadore “Bud” Cohn where they started a meat packing plant and raised their two children, Edwin and Doris Cohn. In 1962, Ida and her husband moved to California to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Ida enjoyed many hobbies—baking, bowling, cards, knitting, traveling--and has been actively involved in charitable work throughout her life. After moving to Westlake Village she founded a local chapter of Hadassah and served as its President. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered regularly at the Goebel Center.
As matriarch of the family, Ida is survived by her grandchildren: Scott (Eva) Weiss, Robert (Kristy) Weiss, David (Eliana) Weiss, Susan (Stuart) Heller, Lisa (Frank) Musotto, Steven (Andrea) Weiss, Joe (Amanda) Cohn; as well as great grandchildren: Brandon, Tammy, Michael, Lea, Andrew, Matthew, Jacob, Samuel, Eli, Channah, Sam, Cody and Sierra Sioux; and great, great grandchildren Anthony, Nadia and Kennedy.
Services and burial were held Friday, August 15. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hadassah.
