It has been five years already that you've  been gone. Seems like yesterday. Well, Jeff, I must say with the way things are down here that you're not missing anything. But we're all sure missing you. Until we meet again, old friend....

A few weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't spoken to Jeff for a couple of years and tried calling him and couldn't get through.    A bit worried, I contacted the Shotokan headquarters and was informed of his death, now almost two years ago.     He and I originally connected at karate special trainings, where his infectious upbeat attitude made him a joy to be around.   Every training we got a bit closer.    He invited me to stay at his house when I attended the Shotokan black belt meetings and was incessantly generous.    He felt the need to give me a gift for staying at his house, a flashlight that I still treasure.    My house is full of things he gave me, a wonderful photo of Ohshima sensei playing the piano, a beautiful vase he gave me as a wedding present and new woofers and midranges in my homemade speakers that he insisted on sending me after staying with me and hearing them.    He was a wonderful man and I miss him greatly.

Jeff, I was just thinking about you. I'm so sorry we haven't connected more lately. I worked for Jeff and knew his father from 1974 to 2000. He was like a big brother to me. Thanks for everything. 

Yumi,  I only had the pleasure of being with Jeff one weekend but I felt like I knew him well.   Dom always talked about this guy Jeff and the woman he married and how he took you around the FBI Academy.  You and he were so gracious to me when I visited CA for the SKA BOD meeting.  He drove us around in the rain, first took me to his favorite hamburger joint, took us shopping, showed me where you lived before moving to Vegas and even took me to his local golf club.  All in the pouring rain!  Some of the roads even closed that day.  I had so much fun with both of you!  He was a real character, so full of life.  I hope that in time the beautiful memories that you have of your time with him will help sooth the pain you are feeling now.  God Bless You and your family.  Dom and I think of you both often and will alway cherish the time(s) we both spent with Jeff.
