Born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1935 to Yisrael and Gourgia Dalah, Jim Emigrated to Israel in 1951 at age 16. He married Samira Ghodsi-Zadeh on December 28, 1967, then fathered his son Ron in 1969 and his daughter Orit in 1972. He served in the Israeli Defense Forces in the '56, '67 and '73 wars. In 1974 he emigrated to Iran with his family, and then emigrated to Los Angeles, CA in June 1976, where he started a new life for the third time. During his life, he worked for a bank, was a salesman, built and operated a Subway franchise, and invested in real estate, but his greatest love and most precious achievement was his family. A man who sought little material comforts for himself and knew no greed, and who did everything for his wife and children, he treated every person with equal dignity and believed passionately that the boundaries we construct, whether real or imagined, cultural, ethnic, religious, or otherwise, should not divide humanity. When he sang for us in Arabic and Hebrew, his voice came from a place that was still connected to his roots and heritage. Always comfortable in his own skin and always true to himself, he set a high moral example for his children Ron and Orit, who along with his wife Samira, son-in-law Nadav Ravid, granddaughters Netanya, Shylee & Gefen Ravid, and daughter-in-law Amanda Grove-Dalah, who survive him, will miss him and carry him in their hearts always. Funeral services for Jim will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, 1:00pm at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA 91345. Arrangements under the direction of Groman Eden Mortuary, Mission Hills, CA.
