John Beckenholdt (aka "John Beck", "Apache 45", and "the 45") was a friend of mine. John was very outspoken, and in the 70s he owned a CB radio store on the north side of Ventura Blvd just west of Sepulveda Blvd. He had a strange sense of humor, and he spent a lot of time talking on the CB to attract customers. John's home was in the hills just west of I-405 and he was one of the commanders of the CB world in the San Fernando Valley.

When he wasn't stirring things up on the radio, he was soft-spoken and well-versed in the goings-on of the Valley. I both admired him and hated him, and we got along very well.

I certainly miss him and his radio-announcer voice and I'm sure many others in the Valley will miss him too. Rest in peace, John. 

I remember "working" John when he was N6WFR and then W6WFR "World Famous Radio" on local Southern California HAM radio repeaters back in the 90's and early 2000's
I even met him once when he lived on the way to Las Vegas near a lake as I recall.

John was quite a character, but always a gentleman.

It was sad to see that John had recently passed. I am unsure if you recall, but when we were all much younger, John was married to my mother Peggy.

My dear sweet Lisa.  I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved father.   I have been thinking of you often over the last week.   Let me know if there is anything David and I can do to ease the pain and sadness.  All my love always, Karen
