

Matthew Allan Hays, 33 of Encino, passed away June 25, 2014, following an automobile accident. Matthew was born April 4, 1981 in Fresno, California. He was raised in Woodland Hills, graduating El Camino Real High School in 1999.
Matthew proudly served his country, joining the United States Navy in 2002 before his honorable discharge in 2008. While serving in the Navy, Matthew was stationed in Japan aboard the USS Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carrier. He participated in Iraqi Freedom, earning numerous medals and commendations.
Matthew loved sports. He played baseball for many years and supported all Los Angeles area sports teams. Most of all, Matthew loved his family, he was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, grandson and nephew.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Morgan; mother and stepfather Lisa and Kenny Pearl; sister Liane (Glenn) Kleczkowski; grandparents Donald and Dolores Eddy and Edith Hays; stepbrother Nicholas (Angelica) Pearl; stepsisters Jessica Pearl and Elizabeth Pearl (Ian Sears); nephews Jack and Nicholas Jr., nieces Madison, Isabel and Katelyn; Aunts Laura Quesada, Linda Vermeulen and Patty Hays; uncle Lance (Lynn) Hays; cousins Crystal, Lukas, Willem, Jenny, Cody, Wesley and Alana; numerous other family and friends everywhere.
Matthew as preceded in death by his father Kevin Hays in 1994, grandfather Destel Hays and uncle Brian Hays.
Funeral Services and Burial with full military honors will take place Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 1:00 PM at Oakwood Memorial Park Chapel, 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, with the Reverend Doctor Steven Smith officiating.
