As a former employee of Entertainment In Motion, I had the opportunity to get to know Mike not only as my boss; but also, as a generous person.  His kindness only exceeded his generosity.  And he wasn't too bad of a tennis player. I reflect on those days with happiness and joy; however, there is a hole in my heart, now that Mike is gone. My condolences to his family.

In the days of Super 8,   Mike was my  provider of movie titles to view and consider for selection.   I was a rookie “Movie Picker”.  Mike was extremely helpful advising me of the concerns I should know about.    Mike would then leave me in a boardroom to screen films. He did re-appear smoking his big stogie at the right moment to change the cartridge.  
Mike, was also a great resource when the inevitable happened…  a complaint from a passenger.   In one instance, a person complained that they were embarrassed for all the Japanese passengers who had to watch the only film showing  - the 1980 film “The Final Count Down”  on the very day of the  40th anniversary of the Pearl Harbour attack.  I called Mike looking for information on whether any of his customers had complained about the film.  He said definitely not! Please let the person know this film is so popular in Japan movie-goers are lining up around the block to see it!  
 My wife Brenda and I continued the friendship with Mike and Arline and met on a number of occasions when our travel paths crossed.  Mike was always so generous sharing what he had with his friends.  By doing so we were able to re-connect with David and Sally Peterson and Peter and Jan Daniello at Mike and Arline’s beautiful home and at their favourite restaurants in the desert.   
 Another important life lesson Mike shared with me at one of his most frequented Los Angeles Italian restaurants,  was  how I could turn an almond cookie paper wrapper into a flaming missile.
Mike was one of the few who mastered the ability of having a great deal of fun while also being successful in his business life!  My thoughts of Mike will always bring a smile to my face!  
Our thoughts are with the Covell family, we hope you are able to take comfort in your many fond memories  of  Mike.

It is with deep sadness that I have learned of Mike's passing. 

Our paths first crossed many years ago. What began as a professional collaboration quickly developed into a strong connection, built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared passion for our industry.

I look back with great appreciation on the many discussions around Entertainment in Motion, that eventually became part of the IFE Alliance. I owe him a great deal: wise advice and guidance that helped me navigate and grow within the IFE sector.

Beyond business, we shared many memorable personal moments — rounds of golf at Mountain Gate, inspiring lunches at Spago's — times filled with laughter, insight, and friendship.

I will always remember him.

Mike's legacy lives on—in every story shared over a perfect meal, every laugh echoing from a golf course fairway, and every fond memory at his cherished table at Spago.

A true gentleman with a sharp wit, a love for cigars, and an even deeper love for his family, Michael had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room. His mentorship on and off the green left a mark on many of us, and his friendship was the kind you could count on—steadfast, generous, and always full of heart.

We raise a glass in his honor and remember a life lived with passion, flavor, and plenty of style. You’ll be missed, Mike!

Mike was my buddy from VITO restaurant in Santa Monica. We were part of our own little Rat Pack of regulars. He was loved by everybody. I especially had a great time always sitting next to him because of his humor {and wisdom}  We were always laughing. I'm going to miss him.
