

Dr. Michael V. Kline, a devoted father and husband, cherished grandfather,and highly admired emeritus professor of Public Health, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025 at the age of 85 in Hermosa Beach, California.
Michael was born on December 25, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Harry Kline and Dolores Becker Kline. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife and the mother of his children, Elyse Barbara Salinger Kline, and his brother, Martin D. Kline.
He is survived by his second wife, Anita Rosenbaum Kline, and his two devoted daughters: Nedra Kline(Gil) Weinreich and Rachel Kline (Ofer) Yehezkel, as well as 4 loving stepchildren, Michelle Gerson, Matthew (Julie) Rosenbaum, Babette (Brooke) Cooper, and Todd (Lisa) Rosenbaum. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren.
Michael was a man of deep intellect, eloquence and empathy, vibrant humor, and a Torah scholar. He loved spending time outdoors in nature, hiking, fishing and camping. It was especially important to him to study Torah and he shared this love with his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was his family, and he instilled in his daughters, stepchildren and grandchildren a love of learning, commitment to social justice, and strong Jewish roots.
As a beloved professor of health education and director of the Master of Public Health program at California State University, Northridge for many years, he taught generations of students and practitioners. He served as a consultant to Los Angeles County and directed various alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs. He was also a the primary co-editor of 3 editions of Health Promotion in Multicultural Populations, along with numerous journal articles.
A funeral service will be held on September 29, 2025 at 1:00pm PST at the Eternal Light Chapel at Eden Memorial Park, located at 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, California 91345. A meal of condolence and Shiva will be at 7 o’clock on Monday at the home of Michelle Gerson. Shiva to be held at 7pm Tuesday night at the home of Anita Rosenbaum Kline.
