Surrounded by love, Rachel Ruth (Ruthie) Sternfeld passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Ruthie was born December 23, 1949, in Haifa, Israel, to Sam and Shary Farkas, both Holocaust survivors. They emigrated from Israel to the United States, first living in Pittsburgh and then relocating to Los Angeles.
She held a deep love for her family and her Jewish heritage. Ruthie was known for her welcoming spirit, making all who entered her home feel like family.
Ruthie is survived by daughters Leigh (Shane) O’Dell and Mimi (Chris) Gordon, siblings Sally (Sam) Lefton-Wolfe and Michael Lenny (Francine) Farkas, and grandchildren Meganne, Jacob, Sarah, and Daniel.
A graveside service for Ruthie will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Eden Memorial Park.
