Our loving mother, Roslyn "Roz" Rose Feller, left this earth peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 94. She was comforted during her final living time by her loving daughters,
Suzanne and Maddy, who as a Nurse Practitioner, was exceptionally focused on Mom’s care.
Roz was born in Brooklyn, which she often referred to as East New York. She was the third of four children born to Harry and Sarah Cinamon. Her siblings were Charles, Pearl, and
Alex, and Roz out-lived them all.
Life was challenging in the late 1930s and early 1940s in East New York, for a family with 4 children. They lived in a 5-story walk-up, with a coal stove and an ice box. No telephone;
when a phone call came, a neighbor would call out the window “Mrs Cinamon, there’s a phone call for you”. Through it all, there was always lots of love, positive guidance, and hope for a Better Future. A Better Future for *Everyone*. That’s the prime example of how
our parents lived every single day, and how we were raised. The values they passed on to their daughters: Respect, Tolerance, Understanding, and Acceptance, with lots of Love.
Consistently a stellar and extraordinarily conscientious student, she by-passed two semesters during her school-age years due to her advanced academics. A university education was ~ unfortunately ~ not on their “radar” although Roz would have excelled
academically; she was highly intelligent. Instead, she followed a “Business” path in high school and became a life-long top-tier Executive Secretary.
One very memorable weekend in Upstate New York, Roz met a young and dashing Bob Feller. Curiously, they discovered they lived “around the corner” from one another in Brooklyn but due to school districting, attended different high schools. Roz graduated from
Thomas Jefferson High School.
A full Jewish marriage ceremony was on September 14, 1952, and two daughters followed: Suzanne “Sue” and Madelynn “Maddy”. The family lived in Bellerose, Queens for 9 years, followed by the next 8 years in East Meadow, Long Island. In the mid-1970s, the family
moved to California, to Woodland Hills.
Many of Mom’s happiest moments were when the ‘kinde’ would all join together in Woodland Hills, and enjoy the swimming pool. Daughters Sue and Maddy, and sons-in-law, Harry and Jeff; and 3 grandchildren: Bradley, Carmell, and Michael. Those were the days
that made Roz [and Bob] most happy, to have their family enjoying the day together.
Roz was not one of those moms who would bake a cake or cookies, although she did enjoy her Sara Lee Pound Cake, of all things! Cooking was not her passion, but raising competent and caring daughters, that was her life’s work. We are eternally grateful.
