On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, Seymour Gale, loving husband; father of three children; grandfather of five children; and great grandfather of one child; passed away at the age of 95. Seymour was born on June 28, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Hyman and Dorothy Gale. He was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Norman and Alan Gale, and his daughter, Stephanie (Mozy) Tehrani, Of, Blessed Memory. Seymour is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Doris Gale; his daughters, Sheri Ellis and Denise Gale; his son-in-law, Mozy (Stephanie, OBM) Tehrani; his granddaughters, Allie Ellis, Hannah Tehrani, and Cleo Tehrani, his grandsons, David (Alison) Ellis and Samuel Merrell; and his great grandson, John Ellis. Mr. Gale is a decorated Veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a Parachute Intelligence Observer (Scout) for the 508th Parachute Infantry, participating in the most celebrated D-Day in history, the Invasion of Normandy, France, with two raids on the French Coast. Decorations earned include the Presidential Citation, American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Purple Heart from a shell wound from a cannon, 3 Bronze Battle Stars, and the European African medal. After the war, Seymour returned to St. Louis, where he worked in the garment industry alongside his father and brothers. His warm smile, hearty laugh, and great sense of humor made him a natural salesman. In the 1960’s he moved his clothing business to Los Angeles, and 50 years later, in 2010, when he was 88 years old, he signed a new 12 year lease with the Anjac Building, where he has had his office for the past 30 years. Mr. Gale said about the new lease, "Maybe I'll retire at 100, it depends upon how well the elevator keeps working”.
Seymour loved is family, friends, golf, the LA Dodgers, and all types of art. He was especially fond of his many pets, which included horses, dogs, cats and fish.
Funeral services for Seymour will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Eden Memorial, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Seymour's memory may be made to: American Cancer Society www.cancer.org. Honors will be presented at Graveside in Eden Memorial Park following the chapel service, by the United States Army.
