Suzanne Stern (aka Mom, Grandma, Bubbie, Bubba Sue, Aunt Sue, Suzie, CookieBub) was born December 6, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Edith and Harry Chudacoff, both Russian immigrants. She was the fifth of their six children. Suzanne had two children during her first marriage, Janice Bruno of Fresno, CA and Arnie (Candi of blessed memory) Sisk of Valencia, CA. She then married Harold Stern who had five children from his first marriage, Larry (Karen) Stern of Valencia, CA, Michael (Ashley) Stern of Santa Clarita, CA, Richard (Niki) Stern of Tucson, AZ, Cheryl (Mitch Gelfand) Stern-Goldberg of Palm Desert, CA and Steven Stern of Seattle, WA. Together Suzanne and Harold had Debra (Heidi) Stern-Ellis of San Diego, CA.
Suzanne and Harold built a business in precision measuring tool sales and repairs and worked together for many years until they retired in Camarillo, CA in 1978. Suzanne was known for her baking skills, making fudge in her earlier life and later whipping up a batch of cookies for any occasion. She loved to play and teach games to others, especially Mahjongg. She valued family interaction immensely and started an annual summer family reunion in Laguna Beach beginning in 1979 and continuing to present day with new generations. After Harold passed away twenty years ago this month, Suzanne ultimately moved to Fresno where she resided until she passed peacefully on March 19, 2023.
Suzanne is survived by her eight children and step-children, her sister, Joanne (Hank of blessed memory) Candiotti (four other siblings preceded her in death), eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six (with one due next month) great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
