From our trip to CA in 2009 for Shayna's wedding

Thinking of you all today and wishing you comfort. I was so grateful to have Sylvia return to my life after I graduated college. She, like her mother Sophie, were anchors of the family -- steady, calm, loving, kind. I can still hear her warm, deep laugh; I hope I always will. And I loved how she and Grandma Sophia had the same tendency to say "watchyamacallit," which I sometimes do -- and have probably heard Ann do too. I remember how special it was to visit Sylvia and Marvin in Framingham in the late 1980's and to reconnect with Cousin Ann and later visiting them in Marina del Rey, reconnecting with cousins Fred and Andy and getting to know their families. (I remember when Andy's girls were little going to Disneyworld together and Uncle Marvin calling Sharon "Gichie") And in 2009, we loved coming to CA with our (then little) kids to celebrate Shayna's beautiful wedding. (I will send pix). I remember long talks with Sylvia about family history and how Sylvia and Marvin both embraced and welcomed me back into relationship, after I'd been through a hard time at the end of college. I loved learning about the rest of the family.  Sylvia was always hospitable and easygoing. I loved our chats and hearing about the grand and great-grandchildren. I felt a sense of strength from her and ability to mostly receive what was good and let the rest fall away. When I visited her briefly in June 2021, she was getting over a heavy cold, so her energy was low. It was good to "take care of" her in some small way, bringing deli sandwiches and cleaning up. She was a major link to our history, a great mother and caring aunt. I know we will all carry her memory forward. Much love. May you be comforted! xoxo Cousin Amanda
