Bill Schiff was born March 30, 1929, seven months before the stock market crash, and a pivotal time in history. He was raised with his four brothers and sisters by his father, Joseph Hillel Schiff and mother, Hortense Jackson Schiff in Clevland, Ohio. They moved to North Hollywood, California in the middle of World War II. Bill graduated high school, began his own business, and was drafted into the Army. He served with honor and distinction as an infantry Sargent in Korea during the war. Bill returned home, fell in love, and married Marian Frishman.
He graduated college in pursuit of his dream of becoming a teacher. Marian and Bill had three sons, and made a home in Granada Hills. He steadily advanced in his career becoming a teacher, vice-principal, and principal. In his retirement, Bill studied Torah and spent time with his Temple Judea community and De La Paz neighborhood, which he loved. He also enjoyed reading, 1965 Ford Mustangs, UCLA football, and fishing in the Sierra Nevadas.
Bill spent his final days at Heritage Point, Mission Veijo, with his beloved wife before transitioning on September 5th. He leaves behind his wife, three sons and daughter-in-law’s, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A life well lived.
