

Benjamin Burrel Williams, age 93, passed away November 29, 2012 surrounded by his devoted family and friends. Bro Ben, as he was affectionately called by all, who knew and loved him, was a native of Louisiana and a long-time residence of Chickasaw. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean, parents; Ben and Ardena Williams and his siblings Varnadoe , Estelle, Melba, Ruth “Dutch” and Joseph “Red” Williams. He is survived by two daughters; Brenda (Frank) Sykes and Cheryl (Sherry) Wilkinson, one sister; Jimmie (Billy) Bouldin, five grandchildren; Ralph Benjamin (Debbie) Green, Jean (Frank) Pratt, Aurelia (Chip) Travis, Tommy (Alison) Sykes and Tony (Traci) Green. Thirteen great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Corey (Lauren), Cole Barrett, Franklin, Jackson, Claire, Madison, Brandon, Breanna, Karson, Will, Ben, and Daniel, one great-great-grandson, Braxton Benjamin Green, numerous nieces and nephews. Ben retired in 1982 from Scott Paper Company where he was a Pulp Mill Supervisor. The greatest loves of his life were his church and his family. He was a member of 1st Baptist Plateau/Lafitte for over seventy years and taught Sunday school up until his death. He was an inspiration to everyone who crossed his path and taught all of us by example. A man of Great Faith, one of his great-grandsons best described “Paw Paw “Ben, as everyone’s “Hero”. Our Dad was a member of the greatest generation and served proudly in World War II. He greatly treasured being able to go on the Honor Flight two years ago. Visitation will be held at Lafitte Baptist Church on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 3 until 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at Lafitte Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers and to honor our Dad’s wishes, the family request that any donations be made to Lafitte Baptist Church for the Lottie Moon Offering for foreign missions and mailed to Ben Williams Family, 5844 Carrick Road, Mobile, Al 36613 He will be buried with full Military honors.
