David Oran Gillespie

David Oran Gillespie, age 70; a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama died August 3, 2026 at his residence with his loving wife by his side. David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles George Gillespie and Frances Kennedy Gillespie.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Analyn Agraviador Gillespie; his daughter, Veronica (Jordan) Gillespie-Montgomery; granddaughter, Aria Francis; two brothers, Jeff Gillespie (Ligia) and Gary Gillespie (Judith); caring niece, Charity (Trey) Skelton-Head; his decades long best friend, Walter Carey Smith, Jr. "Butch"; and other relatives and friends.

David was an avid reader and had a green thumb for exotic plants. His favorite pet (parrot) for over 40 plus years “Sweetie” brought him much joy. David enjoyed years of live music concerts with his wife and riding his bike many miles in a day's time. He had a very special bond with his only child and grandchild. He spent as much time as he could with them. He was a passionate storyteller and could always engage anyone's imagination.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama with Reverend Mark I. Neske as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to Holy Family Catholic Church for their services during this time.
