

Mrs. Dolores Adell “MEMA” (Reed) Willcox, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama died on October 29, 2017 peacefully at the Sacred Heart Residence of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Mobile at the age of 102.
Mrs. Willcox was born on July 27, 1915 in Mobile, Alabama, daughter of William Joseph Reed and Martha Susan (Real Mama) Reed. She attended Cathedral School of the Immaculate Conception and Bishop Toolen High School and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Savage Willcox, Sr., her son Robert Savage (Bobby) Willcox, Jr., Texcie Anne Willcox Veasey, and granddaughter Angela Veasey Russell.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings: William Ernest Reed, Vivian Clarence (Jack) Reed, Mary Elizabeth (Bootsie) Reed McDonald, Sarah Frances (Frankie) Reed McCrary, James Reuben (Jim) Reed, Isabel Jane Rose Myrtle (Betty) Hughes, John Mims Reed, Florence Grace (Mary) Reed Goff, Joseph Wesley (Sonny) Reed.
Mrs. Willcox is survived by her sister Rose Marie (Marie) Reed Murray, her son Charles H. Willcox (Martha Catlin), her daughter Sarah Willcox Walter (Stan), 17 grandchildren: Charles H. (Daphne) Willcox Jr. Susan Willcox (Richard) Beaty, Cynthia Willcox (Sean) Wentworth, James Robert (Andrea) Willcox, Mary Willcox (Mark) Shaw, Anita Willcox (Tony) Pease, Jamie Willcox (Jason) Senkbeil, John Paul Willcox, Joseph Willcox, Joanne Veasey (Brian) Lewis, Joseph (Dawn) Veasey, Cheryl Veasey (Curt) Smith, Jason (Susie) Veasey, Terrell (Maryne) Roberts, Kristin Roberts Bearden, David (Melissa) Roberts, Lauren Reed Roberts, 48 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and her daughter-in-law, Serena Willcox.
The family wishes to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor, Rev. Monsignor Peter J. Cunningham, Chaplain, Sister Raymond Kortenhof, l.s.p., the priests in residence, and the entire staff of the Sacred Heart Residence, and especially the caregivers on the St. Ann Hall for their loving and professional spiritual and physical care of MEMA during the last years of her earthly journey.
Her celebration of life services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, November 4, 2017, with visitation from 9:30 am until 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Three Notch Kroner Rd, Mobile, Alabama.
