Helen Rose Mazurek

Helen Rose Mazurek, age 90, passed away September 19, 2021, at her home in Mobile, AL. She was born December 22, 1930, the ninth child of eleven, to Boleslaw and Pearl (Pater) Stetz. She is survived by sister Lorrie Zunko of Pittsburgh, PA.

Helen married the love of her life, Bob, on December 27, 1950 and enjoyed 65 years together before Bob passed in 2016. While married, they lived in McKeesport, PA, Silver Springs, MD, Niceville, FL, Destin, FL and Mobile, AL.

Before starting her family, Helen worked as a bookkeeper for G.C. Murphy Co in McKeesport, PA. She left to raise three children: Judy Piotrowski of Asheville, NC, Bob (Nada) Mazurek of Powell, OH and Janet (Dave) Masline of Mobile, AL.

Helen was an avid card and game player, passing on her strategy skills to grandchildren Jill (Matt) Reiswig, John Mazurek, Amy Piotrowski, Beth (Matt) Abel, Lee (Carmen) Mazurek, Ed (Sarah Jane) Masline, Anne (Josh) Bagwell, Ann Piotrowski and Steven (Christine) Mazurek.

Helen was further blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Peter, Leo and Helen Reiswig; Ava Mazurek; David, Kaylie and Ryan Bagwell; Warner, Jude and Oliver Abel; and Robert, John and Michael Masline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at Our Savior Catholic Church in Mobile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Children Hospital or the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Helen’s six-year old great-grandchild summed it up best, “Everyone loved her. We will miss her.”
