James Jake Manning, Jr.

Lieutenant James Jake Manning, Jr., MCSO (Retired) – a native of Brewton, AL and a longtime resident of Creola, AL died Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Lt. Manning was a veteran of the U. S. Army and U. S. Navy and retired from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office in 1998 after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jake Manning, Sr. and Frances Sharpe; his daughter, Linda Barnes; two sisters, Judy and Bobbie; and three brothers, Albert “Buddy”, Barry, & Roger. Survivors include two sons, James “Jimmy” Manning, III and Mark Manning; two brothers, Sam Manning and Mark Manning; one sister, Beverly Brownlee; his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 11 A.M. until the 1 P.M. funeral service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Honors rendered by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard Unit.
