

He was born June 22, 1943 in Evergreen, Alabama, to Richard Carey Jones and Flossie Ellen Pate Jones. He attended Lyeffion High School. As a teenager he made the most important decision of his life by accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. In 1961, after graduation, he moved to Mobile and began a 60+ year career as a machinist. He was a loyal, dedicated, hard worker.
He married Carole Ann Boyd in 1964, and together they built a beautiful life surrounded by family.
Jimmy played sports in high school and was nicknamed "Scrappy. " He played church league basketball and softball. He liked to hunt and fish. He loved to sing and singing in church choirs was his greatest joy.
Jimmy will be remembered for loving and serving Jesus, his strength of character, integrity, kindness, honesty, caring, selflessness and unwavering love.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Boyd Jones, parents Richard Carey Jones, Flossie Pate Jones, and Maude C. Jones, brothers, Richard Carey Jones, Jr., Douglas Burt, Mickey Burt, and Benny Burt, sister Billie Jean Quinley, and grandson Dillan Kade Odom.
Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by children Tonya Jones Odom, William Cary Jones, Kelly Shea Jones, son-in-love Kevin Hadley, grandson Dustin Cole Odom, sisters Patsy Boykin, Betty Cagle, Karen Jones and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Luke 4:18 Fellowship, 2664 Sollie Rd, Mobile, AL 36695, US, on June 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Pine Crest Cemetery West, 1599 SNOW RD S, MOBILE, AL 36695, US, on June 25, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 12:45 pm.
