Jimmy Ray Patt Sr. a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to D.A. and Gertrude Patt, along with his twin brother, Johnny, on December 17, 1946.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Jimmy spent his free time fishing, hunting, and gardening. He frequently enjoyed scenic drives through the country and mountains, and especially along the beach. His favorite hobby was spending time with his devoted, loving wife of 41 years, Judy.
Jimmy was a kind and family-oriented man. He was the friend who would give you the shirt from his back if you said you liked it. He worked hard in his life, and being the person anyone could rely on gave him enormous joy. His gentle nature gave him an especially soft spot for fur babies. You would never catch him without one of his four puppies in his lap.
In his early years, Jimmy served with the Armed Reserves and worked various jobs as a jack-of-all-trades. He later settled into a career as a designer at Hunting Ingalls Industries and raised cattle on his farm in the country until his retirement years.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Judy; children: Jimmy Patt Jr., Richard Doyle, Samantha Merrill, and Eric (Alison) Smith; grandchildren: Casey (Taylor) Gray, Alex Patrick, Malcolm Smith, Kiersten Smith, Victoria Brown, Hayley McGrath, Milo Doyle; great-grandchildren: Natalie Longstreet, McKenzie Longstreet, Rylee Patrick, and Reagan Patrick.
He is preceded in death by his parents, D.A. and Gertrude Patt, and identical twin, Johnny Patt.
His memorial service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Ascension Funeral Home. Visitation starts at 2:00 p.m. followed with services at 2:30 p.m.
