

Laverne Jeanette Meadows Smith,83, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL went to her heavenly home on August 11, 2022, where she is now rejoicing being with her beloved husband, Warren and son, Walter. She was born in Mobile, AL to John A. and Ruby Freeman Meadows.
She enjoyed a career in nursing and retired from Searcy Hospital where she was a psychiatric nurse.
She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, was involved with the local women’s Republican Party, Served on the Mobile Republican Executive Committee as well as the Red Hats.
Laverne is preceded in death by the love of her life, Warren Alves Smith; son, Walter Cornelius Smith; her parents; brothers, Elbert and Patrick Meadows; great-grandson, Peyton Boles and sister, June Meadows.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Melinda) and Timothy (Michelle) Smith; sister, Imogene Albritton; brother, Sherman (Ruth); grandchildren, Rebekah, Jessica, Alyssia, Jeremy, Walter Connor, Savannah Kate; great-grandchildren, Alycia, Marcus, Tyrone, Tristan, Kade, Henry, Emmie, Ella, John, Harper, Folger and William.
Funeral services will be 11:00am, Monday, August 15,2022 at Union Baptist Church with Brother David Walley officiating and Linda Nelson will be the pianist. The family will receive friends at 10:00am, prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Robert Albritton, Tony Albritton, Jeff Albritton, Ray Lyons, Connor Smith, and George Metzger. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith and Stephen Teague. Interment will follow the funeral service at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
