

Mrs. Marianne Testen - age 96; a native of Chicago, Illinois and a resident of Mobile, Alabama for the past 54 years, died June 10, 2026 in Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Testen was born in Chicago and moved around the country living in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Oliver, Wisconsin, while her father looked for work. The family eventually settled in Glendale, California, where her father worked in the early aircraft industry. She graduated as an RN from Queen of Angels College of Nursing in Los Angeles, California. She worked as a nurse for several years before marrying Joseph Testen and raising five children. She was married to Joseph Testen for 55 years prior to his death in 2013. She loved reading and was the Assistant Librarian at Little Flower School for a number of years. She volunteered at Brazier Elementary School and as a docent at the Mobile Museum of Art.
She enjoyed sewing, reading fiction and nonfiction, painting watercolors, watching British mysteries, and gardening. She was a member of the Handmade Hugs and continued to knit afghans for babies in the NICU well into her nineties.
Mrs. Testen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Testen; her mother, Mary Stoic; her father, John A. Stoic; and two brothers, Charles Anthony Stoic and John Frederick Stoic. Survivors include: her five children, David (Nancy Dray) Testen of Reston, Virginia, Monica Testen of Mobile, Alabama, Mark Testen of Snohomish, Washington, Laura Hunter (Donald) of Kilen, Alabama; and Daniel Testen of Mobile, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Madeline Meekins (Jason), Maisey Morgan (Matthew), Charles Stewart Hunter, Graham Testen, Rachel Potter, Noah Hunter, and Eleanor Hunter; five great-grandchildren, Myra Joy Meekins, Jaden Hunter Meekins, James Alexander Morgan, Newton Oliver Morgan, and Owen Hunter Morgan; Special friends, Barbara and Ernie Clark; and loyal feline friend and good girl, Cleo.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
