Roderick Theodore "Tripp" Hughes III, age 31, passed away on July 31, 2026. Born on May 18, 1995, Tripp lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for his family, loyal friendship, and a servant's heart.
Faith was central to Tripp's life. From his youth as an Altar Server at Our Lady of Bon Secour Catholic Church, active member of both CYO at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and Auburn University’s Catholic Campus Ministry. Tripp later founded the Men of St Joseph at St. John the Baptist Church in Magnolia Springs and began the evening group at St. Pius X Catholic Church. At St Pius X he also faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the St. Pius X Parish Council. He was also dedicated to service as a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Tripp greatly enjoyed being a member of his Mardi Gras Society and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Tripp lived his faith through prayer, service, fellowship, and commitment to his church community. Through his actions, Tripp exemplified humility, generosity, and Christian discipleship.
A graduate of St. Benedict Catholic School and Foley High School, Tripp continued his education at Auburn University, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the values that would guide him throughout his life. He built a respected career in the construction industry and proudly served as a Starts Superintendent for D.R. Horton of Baldwin County. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, integrity, and dedication to excellence.
Tripp embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude. He was an avid disc golfer who loved the outdoors and cherished every opportunity to be on the water, at the beach or Wolf Bay. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, making memories that will be treasured forever. Whether enjoying a day outside, sharing laughter with friends, gathering with loved ones, sampling craft beer or fine whiskey, going to concerts, or listening to music, Tripp found joy in life's simple blessings.
Above all, however, his greatest joy came from being a husband and father. Nothing meant more to him than his beloved wife, Emily Celestia Hutchisson Hughes, and their precious daughter, Joy Therese Hughes. The love he shared with Celest and Joy was evident to all who knew him, and his devotion to them defined the very best of who he was.
Tripp is preceded in Death by his Paternal Grandparents, Rod & Joy Hughes, and his Maternal Grandparents, C.L. & Mary Tims. Tripp is survived by his loving wife, Emily Celest Hutchisson Hughes, and daughter, Joy Therese Hughes; his parents, Ted and Connie Hughes; his brothers, Cliff Hughes and Jeff Hughes, along with Celest’s parents Trey and Emily Hutchisson, their family and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, friends, fellow parishioners and coworkers who mourn his loss and celebrate his life.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Tripp's impact was immeasurable. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, infectious smile, goofy jokes and the love he freely gave to those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example he set through a life dedicated to God, family, and service to others. His goal in life was to do whatever it took to bring his family and friends to Heaven.
As family and friends grieve his passing, they also give thanks for the gift of his life and the countless happy memories he leaves behind. While he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration for all who knew and loved him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Monday following the Mass in the Family Life Center at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
