Roland E. "R.E." Smith

Roland E. "R.E.” Smith, a native of Prichard and resident of Eight Mile, passed away at his home July 20, 2018 at the age of 76. He is survived by his children Andy R. Smith and Jennifer C. (Stan) Ridgway; the mother of his children Brenda Ridgeway; his grandchildren Evan Smith and Dustin Ridgway; his sister Mary Gurley of Eight Mile, AL; his nieces and nephews Darla (Kenny) Weldy and Larry (Amy) Gurley; his many friends; and his neighbor’s dog, Duke. He is preceded in death by his parents Hardy and Hattie Smith; his brothers Hardy “Bud” Smith, Alsie Smith; his sisters Violet Calhoun, Daisey Garcia, and Marie Whatley. He was a mechanic of 45 years at Brungart Equipment/ Barlow World. A special thanks to Cody with Mobile International Speedway family for fulfilling our Father’s last request. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 9700 Celeste Rd. Saraland, AL 36571 with interment to follow at 12:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
