Thomas "Tommy" Ernest Cain, Jr.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Jean and Thomas Ernest Cain, Sr., and his brothers Phillip D. Cain and Daniel J. Cain. He leaves behind his loving wife, Kim Gibbons Cain, and their three daughters Ashley Cain, Robin Madden and Melanie Reynolds (Ben) and four grandchildren Adelie and Colton Madden, Annie and Pippa Reynolds. Tommy is survived by his brothers Stephen M. Cain (Patricia), Michael A. Cain (Petra), and Kenneth G. Cain; his sisters Kathleen Deckbar (Rick) and Jeanette Tokaz (Tik); sister-in-laws Terri Cain and Virginia Clark; sister, Lynn (Kenneth) Traylor; brother-in-law, Jerry (Maureen) Gibbons; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tommy was born on July 11, 1948 in Mobile, Alabama and was the oldest of eight children. Tommy graduated from the McGill Institute in 1966 and was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Navy. He went on to work with the Louisiana Land and Exploration Company at a local refinery which was later purchased by Shell Chemical. Tommy enjoyed spending time with the many friends he made working at Shell from which he retired.

Tommy and Kim were married for 40 years. In Tommy’s words, their marriage was a big adventure that far exceeded his dreams. He was a family man, blessed with close family starting with his grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and of course his immediate family to whom he was devoted. Tommy especially loved spending time with his girls and his grandchildren and enjoyed a special relationship with each.

Growing up, Tommy enjoyed spending summers with cousins fishing, crabbing, boating, and swimming. A joy that kept him on Mobile Bay where he raised his kids and hosted his family and friends on many occasions. Tommy also loved all outdoor activities, especially saltwater fishing, floundering, speckled trout and crabbing.

Tommy was an active member of Mardi Gras associations where he enjoyed working at the float barn with many of his fellow members. “Long may we roll”

The family would like to thank Drs. Galla, Nolan, Burnham, Ellis and Lasky for the outstanding care delivered to Tommy.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at noon on Saturday, August 7th. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am in the Sarto Center. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery following.
