William Christopher McDonough, II

William Christopher McDonough II, age 71, of Orange Beach, AL passed away October 22, 2016. Chris was preceded in death by his parents: William Henry McDonough and Valerie Bitzer McDonough Davis and his grandson John Michael McDonough. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Priscilla (Carrio); his devoted children: William Christopher III (Nicole) of Mobile, Carrie Elizabeth, and Colin Joseph (Constance Calambakas) both of Orange Beach; his grandchildren: Mallory, Maggie, Megan, William, & Caroline; siblings: Maureen (Skip) Shirah of Mobile, Tim (Kaye) McDonough of Auburn, and Shannon (Garrett) Poplin of Houston; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Chris grew up in Whistler. A 1963 graduate of McGill Institute, he received a BA in Business from the University of South Alabama. He began his employment at the Electric Ice Plant in Pritchard before joining Brett/Robinson Real Estate and Development in the early 1970’s. He joined the company as a Realtor in their Saraland office. In the early 80’s, he moved to Gulf Shores to help the company expand to the Gulf Coast. As the company grew, he became President of Brett/Robinson Gulf Corp., the rental and property management division, and served on the board of Brett/Robinson Real Estate and Development Co.

Chris’ reach went well beyond the walls of Brett/Robinson. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, member of the Be No Hunting Club, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of St. Thomas by the Sea and Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Churches. He was a friend to everyone and made a difference - to his family, to his company, and to the coastal Alabama community. His life was centered on faith, virtue, and integrity. Chris was a reserved, honorable, thoughtful man of quick wit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 1pm at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Mobile. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7:30pm on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at St. Mary’s. Internment at Catholic Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at St. Thomas by the Sea Catholic Church, Orange Beach on Monday, October 31 at 10 am.
