Barbara “Bob” Brooks Scott, age 75, of Monroe, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born in Union County on January 29, 1941 daughter of the late Grover Jason Brooks and Frances Elizabeth Richardson Brooks.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Gene Scott; her sisters, Betty Brooks Scott and Patricia Brooks Hill; brother, Jason Oleen Brooks, nephews, Larry Brent Hill and Mitchell Oleen Brooks and niece, Lori Scott High.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 57 years, William Gene Scott; her son, Michael “Mickey” Louis Scott; her brother, Mike Brooks; brother-in-law, James “Babe” Scott; nieces, Susan Scott Tyson (David), Pam Hill Crump (Brian), Misha Brooks Rushing (Brent); nephew, James Allen Scott and seven great-nieces and nephews.
“Bob” as she was lovingly referred to by her family and friends always had a smile on her face and a sweet spirit that instantly made you feel loved and a part of her family. She was well known for her delicious pound cakes and southern cooking and you never came to her home without sitting down for something to eat and some sweet tea. Nothing made her happier than a visit from family or friends just to sit around the kitchen table to “stay and talk a while”.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Scott will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the McEwen Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Bill High officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park.
