She was born in Union County on March 15, 1929, daughter of the late Oscar and Lola Elliott Simpson.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ted” Broome; her infant son and her grandson, Brandon Huntley. She is survived by her sons, Mike Broome (Delores), Steve Broome (Judy), Tim Broome and Teddy Broome; her daughters, Sybil Huntley, Pam Jenkins (Mike), Tina Broome and Teresa Williams; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:30pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 1:00pm in the church sanctuary with interment following in Lakeland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church – Packs of Love, 2524 Stack Road, Monroe, NC 28112. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Betty Broome.
