Betty was a native of Monroe, NC.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Phillip Somers. Betty is survived by her son, Doug Somers (Melanie) of Mint Hill, NC; two daughters, Lisa Lawhorn (Nick) of Auburn, GA and Stephanie Dermid (Victor) of Monroe, NC. Betty also had 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Sandy Moon (Steve) of Monroe, NC.
Betty was a member of Lee Park Church, which over the last year she was unable to attend often due to health issues. She was involved with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed serving her church as a greeter who always welcomed everyone with a big smile. She loved her church and enjoyed spending time with members of her Sunday school class. Betty cherished the time she was able to spend with her closest friends and in the later part of her life they were a great encouragement for her. It brings great joy in the fact that Betty was a believer in Christ, and she is now in her eternal home where she is worshiping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
