Blanche Simpson Honeycutt, age 98, of Monroe, passed away on December 18, 2018. She was born on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1920 in Union County. Blanche was the thirteenth child of the late Reece J. Simpson and S. Frances Rowell Simpson. She was preceded in death by her husband Houston Honeycutt in 2003; sons Tommy Honeycutt in 1969 and Jerry Honeycutt in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Elgeva β€œGeva” H. Whitley and Becky H. Rushing (Greg), her sons, G. Michael Honeycutt (Alice) and Randall J. Honeycutt (Mayree) all of Indian Trail; her fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Blanche was a lifetime member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Monroe NC where she was Lady’s Adult Sunday School teacher, choir member and pianist. She was employed in the textile industry for over twenty five years. She spent her final years at Carillon Assisted Living where she participated in many activities and played piano for pure enjoyment and worship service. The family would like to thank mom’s special niece, Debbie Griffin and nephew, Dwayne Simpson for the many times spent with her, bringing joy and laughter in her life. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:30pm Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Honeycutt will begin at 2:30 in the church sanctuary with interment following in Price Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Ebenezer Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 1417 Unionville-Indian Trail Rd. W, Indian Trail, NC 28079. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the Honeycutt family.

Ms Blanche was a real blessing to our Carillon Assisted Living Worship ministry. Ms Blanche played the piano for our Wirship services in the early years. Judy & I loved Ms Blanche and she will always be in our heart of memories.

I feel so blessed to have met Blanche at Carillon Assisted Living. We had many conversations, and I always looked forward to seeing her. I will remember her wonderful sense of humor! My prayers are with her family and friends.
