Boyd Nelson Price

He was born on April 10, 1935, to the late Troy and Flonnie Helms Price.

Nelson was a lifelong Union County native who enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He also loved baseball with the Atlanta Braves being his favorite team. Nelson was also a very active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Monroe, North Carolina where he faithfully ministered in various areas of the church including teaching Sunday School, directing the choir, and serving as a deacon. More importantly, Nelson loved his family and enjoyed the precious memories that were made with them.

Along with his parents, Nelson is preceded in death by his wife, Gearl Dean Price; and brothers, TW Price, Tim Price, Olin Price, and Wendell Price. He is survived by his children, Barbara Blanchard (Jerry), Randy Price, Lorie Andersen (Chris), Joie Helms, and Bengie Price (Malena); grandchildren, Chris Blanchard, Brandy Wilson (Dexter), Ashley Cashion (David), Jennifer Hall (Sam), Alan Pearson (Miranda), Morgan Jordan (Josh), Chad Price (Kelly), Kristy Short, Bradley Helms, Raegan Price, and Sawyer Price; great-grandchildren, Lilly Blanchard, Landon Rahall, Emi Cashion, Olivia Pearson, Waylon Pearson, Haven Jordan, Nora Jordan, Wilder Jordan, Selah Jordan, Ryder Price, Reese Price, Gavin Short, and Kinsley Short; and his longtime friend and companion, Audie Love.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church located at 4316 Hillcrest Church Rd., Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Nelson’s life will be held following the visitation at 3:15 pm with Pastor Kelly Austin and Pastor Dallas Pressley officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Price Cemetery.
