Brandy Rae Getson

Brandy Rae Getson (née Bent) was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. Predeceased by her father, John Bent, she is survived by mother, Tammy Mitchell (husband Greg), and amazing child, Ashe Newman. Also mourning her loss is her long-time partner, John-Lee Presley, and stepfather, David Caughell (wife Gay).

Brandy was the middle sibling of sisters, Jennifer Taylor (husband Randy) and Sarah Casteline (husband Danny), leaving behind a hole in their hearts that can never be filled. She was a beloved aunt to several nieces (Meridith, Alyssa, Madison, Mya, and Lauren) and nephews (Kody and Noah) and great aunt to Cheyenne, Alekai, and Jace.

She lived a life full of joy and curiosity. From childhood softball to go-kart racing to Nirvana music, she embraced her interests with her whole heart. Life wasn’t always kind to her, but she retained her spirit and never gave up on herself.

Most of all, Brandy was a loving woman with a beautiful soul who cared deeply for those around her. Whether helping her baby sister bring her first child into the world or making a friend laugh during a hard day or being someone’s fiercest defender, she touched the lives of those around her in a profound way and will never be forgotten.

The family is in the care of McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe and will celebrate her life privately.
