Charlie Stevenson Deese

Charlie Stevenson Deese, age 96, of Monroe, passed away on June 8, 2019.

He was born in Marshville, NC on January 20, 1923, son of the late William Thomas and Sarah Webb Deese. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Lee Helms Deese; son, Larry Stevenson Deese; his brothers, Bill Deese, Curtis Deese and Rev. Tommy Deese. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Mock and husband Charles Mock of Charlotte, NC; his sister-in-law, Betty Rumfelt Deese of Nebo, NC and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Mr. Deese was a WWII Veteran who served in the ARMY Airforce as a Tail Gunner on a B-24 airplane, he was a charter member of Benton Heights Baptist Church in Monroe, he worked as a construction worker with Laxton Construction Co. and retired from Rogers Builders. He was also member of Shiloh Baptist Church and JOY Club. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00pm in McEwen Funeral Home’s Colonial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund, 2301 N. Rocky River Road, Monroe, NC 28110. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the family of Mr. Deese.

Mr. Deese will be missed by all. He was a great neighbor to my sister Linda Rape. We always visited him when we were in North Carolina.

Mr Deese and his wife were the only neighbors to welcome me into the neighborhood when i moved into my house 17 years ago and always made me feel welcomed
