Mr. Clarence Foster Starnes Jr.

Mr. Starnes was born June 28, 1937 in Union County to the late Clarence Foster Starnes, Sr. and Ada Sims Starnes.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phala Jones Starnes; his children, Melanie Hood and her husband, David, Mark Starnes and his wife, Caroline and Joy Mast and her husband, Steve, all of Charlotte; sister, Mrs. Jo Nell McCain and husband Robert of Waxhaw; grandchildren, John, David and Caroline Hood and Greta Mast all of Charlotte.

Clarence was a loving family man who never met a stranger. Many will remember his example of generosity and service to others.

The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Friday March 2, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe.

Funeral services for Mr. Starnes will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday (March 3, 2012) at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Waxhaw, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Go Ye Fund, 5300 Nesbit Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173.

McEwen Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monroe is serving the family of Mr. Starnes.
