Mrs. Doris Maxine Snead, 73, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Mrs. Snead was born September 23, 1941 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Lawrence Wilson and Rosa V. Russ Matthews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kellie Robin Snead and a grandson, Billy P. Griffin.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate the life of Doris will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with Reverend Dallas Pressley officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband: James R. Snead Jr., three daughters: Terry A. Starnes of San Jose CA., Janie Baker (Scott) of Monroe, Julie Shelton (James) of Monroe, one son: James Ross Snead III of Monroe, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother: Lawrence Wilson Matthews Jr. of Winston Salem.
