

He was born on May 28, 1958, to the late Dahl and Martha Coggin Stegall.
In his younger days, Douglas enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time and having fun with his best friend, Larry Pope, before he passed away. Douglas had many loves and enjoyments in his life. He loved watching the news, which he did daily, and enjoyed watching shows about Bigfoot, the Skinwalker Ranch, and various sports. He also loved going out to eat with two of his favorite places being South 21 and Judds Restaurant. More importantly, Douglas loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the precious memories he made with them over the years.
Along with his parents, Douglas is preceded in death by his stepfather, George Coggin. He is survived by his loving significant other for over 30 years, Sharon Maggard; daughters, Kristy Stegall Cuthbertson, Chanda Stegall, and Shana Stegall; grandchildren, Trenton Cuthbertson, Nadia Cuthbertson, and Tyler Allen; Sharon Maggard’s 2 sons, Jason and Jeremy; 8 grandchildren, Chris, Paige, Taylor, Joshua, Zach, Tyler, Morgan, and Mason; and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Randy Stegall (Sheila); Chanda Stegall’s significant other of 22 years, Dwayne Allen; nieces; great-nieces; a great-nephew; as well as numerous cousins.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1:15 pm in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Whitecotton officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
