He was born in Union County, NC on February 25, 1924, son of the late Hoke and Nancy McBride. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opha Lee Richardson McBride; his sister, Faye McBride Helms; and by his brothers, Bill and Johnny McBride.
He was the most wonderful Dad in the whole world. Mr. McBride is survived by his son, J. Wayne McBride and wife Lisa; his granddaughter, Katie McBride; his sister, Jackie McBride Belk; brother, H.C. McBride and by his sister-in-law, Linda McBride. He was a lifetime member of Prospect Methodist Church in Monroe, NC.
Emerson was a WWII Veteran, having landed in Normandy, France, and having served in 4 of the 5 battles of WWII. He toured all over Europe.
Early on in his career he grew chickens and produced eggs. He also helped run a sawmill with his father brothers. Emerson loved his cattlefarm, driving his tractors and working in his garden growing fruits and vegetables. Later in his career he was the founder of McBride Building Supplies, Inc. in Lancaster, SC. He was heavily involved in multiple other construction related companies including IBSA Corp (Later merging with LBM out of NY), First Palmetto Company, Group 4, Group 5 and Anchor Construction. Having built multiple construction projects all over North and South Carolina. He truly loved his long term business partners, William Harper, Mike Williams, Gene and Kenneth Melton. Together did amazing works.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, September 10, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. McBride will begin at 11:00am Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Prospect Church in Monroe. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Memorial Contributions may be given to Prospect Church, 6020 Prospect Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
