

God called Emma Lee Covington to her heavenly home on November 17, 2016. She was born December 26, 1940 to the late John F. and Virgie Faulkner Covington. Emma attended Winchester Avenue School, accepted Christ at an early age, joined Mt. Calvary AME Zion and remained a member until her health failed. She retired from Swanson Sheet Metal after 30 years of service, then for the Union County Public Schools, she loved to cook and would speak her mind.
Emma was preceded in death by her son; William Andre’ Covington, sister; Gladys Covington and brothers; John and Roscoe Covington.
Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate her life will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest City Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory four children; Michael Covington, Tammy Covington, Tonia Covington and Fredrick Covington all of Monroe, a sister; Mary Helen Davis, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 special great-great nephews and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
