She was born in Union County on September 8, 1927, daughter of the late Archie and Dora Griffin Pope. Hallie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thadduce "T.E." Howell; her son, Jerry Thomas Howell; sisters, Rachel Starnes and Frances Parker; her brother, Archie Curtis Pope and by her daughter-in-laws, Nancy B. Howell and Shirley Y. Howell.
She is survived by her sons, Michael E. Howell, Gene Howell and Tony Howell (Lisa); her daughter-in-law, Barbara Howell (Jerry) all of Monroe; her brother, Henry Frank Pope (Wadine); sisters, Shirley Pope Edwards and Doreatte Pope Guin; her twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family has requested open hours for friends and relatives to sign the register book and leave condolences from 11:00am until 4:00pm Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at McEwen Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 12:30pm until 1:00pm Thursday, August 13, 2020 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Howell will begin at 1:00pm in McEwen Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. Entombment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum.
