

He was born on December 26, 1931 in northern Union County to the late Cyrus Lee and Bessie Love Brooks. Dwight was a faithful Christian man and was a member at Zion Methodist Church. He was a farmer, born of farmers. Watching and cultivating life was his passion. Dwight graduated valedictorian from Unionville High School in 1950, and was a forward on the basketball team. From there he graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1954, and later earned a Masters of Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1955. He went on to serve his country in the Army being assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.
Along with his parents, Dwight is preceded in death by his daughter, April Serena Brooks; son, Henry Dwight Brooks, Jr.; and five siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Tarlton Brooks; daughter, Jennifer Clark (Mark); and his beloved grandchildren, Kirk Clark, Ryan Clark, Miles Clark, and Gray Brooks.
Dwight was much loved and will be genuinely missed.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm at Zion Methodist Church, located at 1521 Old Fish Road, Monroe, North Carolina. Funeral services will then be held following the visitation at 3:00 pm with Pastor Mark Clontz officiating. Burial with military honors will then follow the service at the church cemetery.
