

James was born on July 17th, 1942, in the mountain hills of Tennessee to his late parents Cecil and Ina Templin of Dandridge, TN.
Mr. Templin was a retired employee of NC Department of Transportation Road Division as a heavy equipment operator. He retired on August 1, 2004. He recently attended Heartland Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC.
James was a life-long resident of Union Co. NC. He married Carolyn in Lancaster, SC and they made their home in Monroe, NC. His surviving children are: son, John Robert “Robbie” Templin; daughters, Connie Templin Foster (John), Lynnette Templin; son, Scott Templin Sr. (Amy).
Along with working hard at “The State” James enjoyed woodcrafts, boating, gardening, camping, and fishing. He loved WIXE Radio and sitting in his “doghouse” gazebo.
James has one living sister, Sue Buckner of Newport, TN. He has 12 grandchildren: Daniel Templin, Andy Templin, Samuel Templin, Mary Bennett, Alden Pate, Jarred Pate, Christina D. Helms, Christopher Vann Helms, Amber Templin, Brittany Templin, Alexis Templin and Scott Templin Jr. There are 12 great grandchildren.
James’ family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Hospice Staff for their wonderful care as well as his home caregivers, Alden Pate and Samuel Templin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 6:00PM to 8:00PM. His funeral service will be Thursday, October 24, 2024, 10:00AM in the McEwen’s Colonial Chapel. Committal service will be held in Crown Memorial Park 9620 Rodney St., Pineville, NC.
