John Wayne Simpson Jr. was a carpenter by trade, known for steady hands and a determined spirit that met each day’s work with purpose. In all he did, he carried himself with devotion and care, offering his time and strength in ways that spoke quietly but clearly of love and commitment.
Family was central to his life. He was a devoted caregiver for his mother, a role he fulfilled with constancy and heartfelt dedication. He also found simple, meaningful joy in the everyday—especially in the kitchen, where he enjoyed cooking and sharing the comfort of a meal.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Wayne Simpson; his mother, Mary Ellen Simpson; his sister, Debbie McLain (Billy); his brother, Michael Simpson (Beverly); his grandson, Walter Simpson; and his granddaughter, Kloie Simpson. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wayne Simpson, Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm on October 19, 2026, at Roanoke Baptist Church, 618 Roanoke Church Rd., Unionville, North Carolina 28110.
